The Canary Wharf Crossrail (Elizabeth Line) station is a spectacular building incorporating a 250m wooden beam roof, award-winning semi-tropical gardens, 100,000 sq ft of retail as well as performance space and community space. It’s now twinned with the world-famous Eden Project in Cornwall as an example of urban sustainability and increasing biodiversity. However its true genius lies in the construction and financing, which saved the UK Government thee-quarters of the expected cost for constructing the station.
The Elizabeth Line was delivered using innovative funding mechanisms that for the first time captured some of the land value created by the line, in addition to funding from central and city government.
Our team and Associates include those directly involved with the project from its inception in 2000 through to its opening in 2022, with experts in the politics, engineering, financing and design of this spectacular new railway.
